Meme Coins Are Forever!
Until the next one comes along
Warming up your brain
Meme Coins would’ve been a prominent topic if you’ve been keeping up with Crypto news in 2023.
$PEPE, $BEN, $PSYOPS, $TIP, what else can you think of?
So you might be thinking, wow, 2023 is such a shit show, so many Meme Coins projects launching, tsk tsk.
Well…shit…what do you think the first Meme Coin is and when did it launch? I’ll give you a clue, it isn’t 2023.
Heard of $DOGE? The Elon backed Meme Coin launched in 2013. Yes.
So while I exaggerated that Meme Coins will be around forever, they have been around for the most part of Crypto history so far.
Ok so wtf is my point?
Let’s talk about how to spot the of a Meme Coin and what you can do to ride the wave OR avoid it.
Meme Coins are NFTs without pictures
Think about it for a moment.
No? Don’t see it, well let me explain.
Let’s look at the anatomy and lifecycle of a Meme Coin, you can judge for yourself if it looks very familiar to NFTs.
Anatomy of a Meme Coin
It all starts with an Idea
Promote the idea through Marketing efforts
Through marketing, create hype, the ‘Bull Mania’
Introduce the infamous ‘roadmap’
Start taking profits
97-99% of holders are waiting to dump
Only 1-3% of holders are actually holding because they truly believe in the project
Touch your heart, can you tell me you’ve never seen this before?
Lifecycle of a Meme Coin
It all starts with a beginning, of course
Create hype before a launch, use scarcity, tasks to earn priority / benefits
Pump and shill the token after launch to maximise price potential
Inevitable crash, likely >90%
This leads to a post crash pump as the ‘paper hands’ have now left the project
While eventually leads to a slow bleed out as the project slowly meets it’s death
The die hard crazy holders try to revive the project, likely cause they missed the sale boat, but most have moved on\
So what can you do about it?
You know the anatomy, you know the life cycle. That’s powerful.
Every time you’re in the decision making process, do I enter a project now?
Review this thread again and determine your risk based on the project’s anatomy and lifestyle.
If you are entering post launch, sorry to say it but you’re more likely to get dumped on than to be able to make any gains at all.
Have Anouilh humility to identify it and MOVE ON!
If you still need convincing, remember this.
Meme Coins have been around since 2013.
They will be around for many more years and cycles to come.
Missing one Meme Coin opportunity today is nothing in comparison to the many more opportunities you will have in the future.
What if you are risk averse?
Stop.
If you truly are risk averse, why are you thinking about Meme Coins?
DCA $BTC, $ETH. That’s all you need to know.
